My control board is not working, why?

There are several possible causes for the control board not to work. If the control board has no lights, after checking your power source, you’ll want to check the wires to ensure all the connections are tightly connected. Next, we would check that power is getting to the control board. It is recommended to have the stove on a surge protector in case of significant changes in power flow. Power outages or electrical surges common during storm events can cause the board to fail (short out). If the problem persists, please see the Troubleshooting Your PelPro Stove with Dial Control video.

Will my PelPro stove work if the power goes out?

PelPro stoves require 120VAC to operate so a combustion fan can run to remove the exhaust. Depending on ambient pressures in the home, some smoke can fill the fire box during a sudden loss of power causing the fan to turn off. In the event of a power outage, these stoves can be plugged to a steady state generator to continue operating.

Battery backup systems are available from Tripp-Lite. A good inverter/charger with auto switching paired up with a marine deep cycle battery can keep you warm when the power is out.

Does my PelPro stove come with a thermostat?

PP130, PP130-B, PP150, PP70, PP60, PP60-B cannot have an external thermostat. They run on off an internal temperature sensing system and come with a standard dial control that allows you to adjust and to maintain a desired temperature (comfort level).

TSC90 and PPC90 Cast iron pellet stoves do not ship standard with an external thermostat but can have one added.

All PelPro appliances are designed with seals that are tight and designed to seal the door completely when it is shut. If smoke is coming into your room, it is likely due to the venting or a dirty stove. Perform a thorough cleaning and check all the venting joints and confirm they have been sealed with high temperature silicone, especially the connection where the venting (chimney pipe) meets the unit. This can also sometimes occur if the appliance is not cool before loss of power or unplugging.

The most often cause of noisy fans is from the impellers (fan blades) becoming dirty over time. Bearings can fail over time and the fan would need to be replaced. See the Maintenance section of your owner’s manual orpelprostoves.com.

An Outside Air Kit is recommended with every appliance; important to note that mobile homes require that an Outside Air Kit be installed. It is strongly recommended that local building codes always be verified prior to installation in all types of homes. Some localities require Outside Air Kits to be installed.

PelPro stoves require a 3” or 4” diameter type “L” or “PL” venting system.

The combustion fan works by pulling air into the appliance to feed the fire as well as pushing exhaust out the chimney. The convection fan works by pushing the warm air generated by the fire into the room to help circulate heat.

Yes, it is recommended to use a surge protector as PelPro appliances have digital components that could be negatively affected by a power surge.

Yes, all pellet stoves require a non-combustible floor protector (such as a hearth pad) on floors that have combustible material on them, such as wood, carpet, or vinyl. The floor protector should extend beneath the appliance and to the front, sides, and rear as indicated in the owner’s manual. Refer to your owner’s manual for the hearth pad size required for your specific stove.

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) shown on the website includes the PelPro appliance price only. Venting, accessories, and hearth pads will be priced separately.
