Forge & Flame's Commitment to Sustainability

In a world increasingly conscious of its environmental footprint, Forge & Flame continuously innovates our sustainable heating solutions. We are committed to the environment and future generations by incorporating environmental responsibility in our manufacturing process for heating stoves.

We value the finite resources of our planet and constantly strive to produce in a more sustainable manner. We consider ourselves guardians of the environment, and we take this role very seriously.

Sustainable Material Sourcing, Reduction & Recycling

Longevity is the best form of sustainability. That's why we are proud to contribute to a cycle that promotes resourcefulness.

Our approach to material sourcing is at the heart of Forge & Flame's sustainability journey. The cast iron used to craft Vermont Castings and Harman stoves is sourced entirely from 100% recycled materials, turning what was once waste into a durable, efficient and environmentally friendly heating solution.

Since our inception, tens of millions of pounds of brake drums and unused stove parts are remelted and reused to cast durable, highly efficient cast iron stoves—mitigating the millions of pounds of scrap that would be discarded in landfills.

Moreover, 90% of our Quadra-Fire steel units are made from recycled steel, with 100% of our scrap steel recycled to maximize every inch of material.

Heavy Metal Elimination

We've taken significant steps to eliminate heavy metals, notably lead, from our products. Heavy metals are harmful to the environment and our health and can raise the chances of heart disease. By setting rigorous manufacturing guidelines, we are dedicated to safeguarding the health and safety of our customers and our members.

Waste Reduction Initiatives

Our waste reduction initiatives are a crucial component of our sustainability efforts. Investing in reusable returnable totes is a prime example of our commitment to minimizing packaging waste.

By eliminating the use of shrink-wrap, reducing the number of pallets by 10,000 each year and implementing a zero-waste facility in Halifax, Pennsylvania, we are actively reducing our environmental impact and leading the way in responsible manufacturing practices.

Renewable Energy

At Forge & Flame, our Vermont plant exemplifies our dedication to sustainable manufacturing powered entirely by 100% renewable energy. We've shifted away from fossil fuels by drawing energy from hydro and solar sources, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.

This commitment extends beyond our operations to our products as well. Our heating stoves, designed to utilize renewable biomass energy from wood and pellets, reflect our vision of a sustainable future. By choosing these eco-friendly heating solutions, homeowners worldwide contribute to a global effort to minimize carbon emissions, embracing a more sustainable way of living.

Energy Efficiency and Lighting

Embracing technological advancements, Forge & Flame has adopted modern LED lights throughout our facilities, significantly reducing energy consumption. Furthermore, installing a state-of-the-art air compressor system has remarkably reduced electricity use by 800,000Kw, enough energy to power approximately 76 American homes, underscoring our commitment to energy-efficient solutions.

Tax Credit Qualifying Units

With innovative practices at the forefront of everything we do, Forge & Flame is honored to offer the most tax credit-qualifying units under one brand. Living sustainably is rewarded with a tax credit-qualifying heating stove or insert—these energy-efficient heating units significantly lower emissions better than traditional heating methods, reducing your carbon footprint.

From January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2032, the tax credit enables taxpayers who install eligible wood and pellet stoves to claim a 30% tax credit, up to $2,000 annually. This credit applies to the total cost, including both purchase and installation. To qualify for the credit, stoves must have a thermal efficiency of at least 75% as per the higher heating value (HHV) of the fuel, according to the Hearth, Patio, and Barbeque Association.
